Excursion from Brest to the island of Ouessant or the island of Molène to see the spring landscapes
Enjoy a getaway to the heart of the Iroise Sea archipelago
With the arrival of spring, the Breton islands adorn themselves with their most beautiful colors.
From Brest, embark on an excursion to the islands of Ouessant or Molène, jewels of the Iroise Sea archipelago.
Enjoy a day in the great outdoors exploring these Breton islands.
Ouessant Island: Sentinel of the Atlantic
Located about twenty kilometers off the Breton coast, Ouessant captivates with its contrasting landscapes and timeless atmosphere.
The last land in Brittany before America, it is accessible by boat from the port of Brest. The sentinel island unfolds along coastal paths, bordered by steep cliffs, flowering moors, and five legendary lighthouses such as Créac'h (the most powerful in Europe) and Stiff.
In spring, nature is lush: gorse and heather illuminate the paths, seabirds return to their nesting sites, and Ouessant sheep wander through the pastures.
You can rent a bike upon arrival to explore the island's 38 km at your own pace, thanks to the four marked trails.
You'll find a few crêperies and restaurants open during this season, where you can sample the famous lamb stew cooked under the mound.
Molène Island: A Wild Pearl
More secluded than its big sister, Ouessant, Molène Island offers a slightly more intimate and unspoiled setting, in the heart of the Iroise Marine Natural Park.
Located 1.5 hours from Brest, the island boasts unparalleled natural beauty.
You can easily walk around it (4 km) before stopping at the port, the island's liveliest spot, and observe the fishing and pleasure boats.
There are no cars here: walks are best done on foot, between typical white houses, sheltered coves to the south, and turquoise waters.
In spring, the island gently awakens to the sound of gulls. Children can engage in a treasure hunt with puzzles to solve.
